Colofac side effects

What you should know before taking Colofac for IBS

Doctors prescribe Colofac to treat various symptoms of IBS. It can be used by people who have various bowel disorders, nervous diarrhoea, constipation and more. It works by controlling muscle spasms, particularly those of the colon. With more control over muscle movements, people who suffer from bowel disorders can be free from many of their symptoms.

The active ingredient in Colofac is an antispasmodic, and it can create some undesirable side effects. Most commonly, people have reported feeling dizzy, losing their appetite, having trouble sleeping and feeling constipated. This medication can also cause rashes and itchy skin.

A tiny percentage of people may experience allergic reactions. They may break out in hives or have some trouble breathing if you feel you are suffering from an allergic reaction the medication, you should stop taking it right away and seek medical attention immediately.

Colofac can interfere with some conditions and medications, causing complications. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or suffer from kidney disease, you should not be taking this medication. Since it can cause changes in your pulse, it is not advisable to take it if you have a heart condition either. It can exacerbate your condition and put you at risk for a heart attack.

To avoid suffering many side effects with this medication, be sure to use it as your doctor directs. Don’t take a double dose if you miss a dose. Instead, take your dose as normal and don’t try to make up the missed dose unless it is less than an hour or two after you should have taken it. You don’t want to take two doses very close together, as that can increase the risk of certain side effects.

Also be sure that you only take the dosage your doctor has prescribed. If you feel like your current dosage isn’t enough to deal with your symptoms, then consult your doctor, but never try to increase the dosage on your own.

Most side effects with this medication will be mild. Most people who suffer some of the side effects will only experience them at first, but these should go away in time. If you feel like the medication isn’t treating your symptoms like it should, ask your doctor about changing your dosage or medication. If you feel like the side effects that you experience are too severe, as your doctor about alternative options.

Typically, you will only need to take a full dose of Colofac for a few weeks. Once your condition improves, your doctor may tell you to lower your dosage.
