Lisinopril Side Effects

Lisinopril is used to treat congestive heart failure and hypertension and can help patients who have suffered from cardiac arrest in the past. It does so by relaxing the muscles of the blood vessels. This permits blood to flow through more freely.

Many of the heart problems it treats are caused by blocked or partially blocked arteries. These obstructions are caused by all sorts of different factors, and they make it difficult for the blood to flow like it should. By relaxing the blood vessels and opening them up a bit more, the blood can flow more freely. At the same time, forcing the muscles of the blood vessels to relax like this can cause some problems. There are some side effects that can potentially occur when you take this drug.

Common Side Effects

Most people will only experience the milder, more common side effects. The majority of these are not going to be severe and won’t last for every long. You may be able to treat them with common medications you would buy for everyday ailments, such as pain relievers.

As Lisinopril works, you may start to feel itchy or nauseous. You could also experience headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhoea, vomiting and other symptoms of an upset digestive system. Some people who take the drug can suffer from depression, as there are potential hormonal changes that can occur.

If any of these symptoms are too severe for you to treat with medication effectively, then you should let the doctor know. It’s possible that you’ll need to find an alternative to Lisinopril or simply reduce your dose.  Lisinopril comes in tablet form and is available in 5mg and 10mg.

Allergic Reaction

Some people will be allergic to this drug, as is possible with any drug. If you are allergic, you may start to break out in hives or develop a rash. You may have some trouble breathing or your tongue may swell up. Your extremities could also swell in response to the allergy. An allergic reaction can be fatal, in some instances, if your ability to breathe is seriously hampered. If you start to see any signs of an allergic reaction, stop taking the drug and seek medical help right away.

Severe Side Effects

There is some potential for severe side effects when taking this drug. If you start to experience symptoms such as chest pain, weight gain, uneven heartbeat, palpitations, problems urinating, flu-like symptoms and psoriasis, it is advisable to seek medical attention right away.

Sometimes, the side effects that you feel will be caused by interactions between this drug and something else. If you have any pre-existing medical condition or you are taking other medication, let the doctor know before you start on Lisinopril. The doctor requires this information to be able to determine if this drug is safe for you to use.

Bladder Infection Home Remedies

While many people who are suffering from cystitis turn to their doctor for a medical treatment, many others prefer to try an alternative bladder infection treatment.
