Bonjela Gel

What is Bonjela?

Bonjela is a sugar-free gel used to treat mouth ulcers and other areas of soreness or irritation inside the mouth.

How does Bonjela work?

Bonjela works in two ways: it contains one ingredient to combat the pain and inflammation alongside an antiseptic to help you avoid infection.

Active ingredients

Bonjela Adult Gel contains choline salicylate to treat pain and reduce inflammation and cetalkonium chloride to reduce the risk of infection.

What can Bonjela be used for?

Bonjela reduces pain and inflammation associated with: 

• Mouth ulcers
• Cold sores
• Irritation caused by braces or dentures
• Other areas of soreness in the mouth

Bonjela also contains an antiseptic to help prevent these areas become infected. Please note, that cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. Other medications, such as aciclovir or valaciclovir may be needed to treat the cold sore.

How to use Bonjela Adult Gel?

Bonjela Adult Gel is only for use by people over the age of 16. Other products are available for children. To apply Bonjela gel, use the following instructions:

• Wash your hands to help prevent infection
• Squeeze a small amount of gel from the tube (approximately 1cm).
• Using your finger, gently massage the gel into the affected area. 
• Repeat after 3 hours if required. 

Please note: for denture irritation, you should apply Bonjela at least 30 minutes before inserting your dentures. Do not apply Bonjela directly to your dentures.
