|N/A||1 test kit||£24.99|
This kit tests for chlamydia, a common sexually transmitted infection. It is a swab test so it is particularly suitable for women.
70% of women do not experience any symptoms so chlamydia often goes undetected for a long time. In the event that you do get symptoms they will include any of the following: bleeding between periods or after sex, discomfort during urination, pain during or after sex and an unusual discharge from the vagina. You may also experience lower abdominal pain.
This test should be taken by anyone who has engaged in unprotected vaginal sex.
Using the swabs, you collect samples from the vagina. Once you have completed the test, you send your samples on to our laboratory. There, your swab is examined to determine whether or not the chlamydia infection is present. This test will only check for chlamydia in the vagina, to check for oral or anal chlamydia you will need to use a different test kit.
This self test requires you to take a swab sample from inside the vagina. To do this, carefully remove the swab from the packet with clean hands, ensuring you do not touch the cotton swab. Hold the middle of the stick and slowly insert the swab into the vagina, around 5cm past the entrance. Rotate the swab to ensure it touches the walls of the vagina and remove it after 10-30 seconds. It should then be placed in the liquid filled tube, taking care not to spill any. Break off the swab stick at the dented part and seal the tube before placing it inside the return packaging.
After you send in your samples, you will receive your results by email or text.
Provided you follow the instructions included, ensure that the swab does not get contaminated and all of the liquid remains intact, the test is highly accurate. If your test arrives open or damaged in any way, do not use it. Let us know as soon as possible and we will send you a new one free of charge.
Chlamydia can be avoided by using condoms during sex. You should always use protection with a new partner and it’s advised that you both get tested for STIs before you stop using condoms.
If your results are positive then you will be given an antibiotic to treat chlamydia. It is also your responsibility to let any previous partners and your current or most recent sexual partner know that you have tested positive for chlamydia. They will also need to be tested for the infection and treated if necessary.
Chlamydia is passed on during sexual contact via the genital fluids. You can catch it by having unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex with a partner who has chlamydia.
The test is confidential and your details will not be shared with anyone. We always dispatch test kits in plain discreet packaging with no indication of what's inside.
