Differin comes in cream or gel form and is used to reduce inflammation and soreness of the skin caused by acne. Acne is a skin condition which is likely to affect everyone at some point in their lives. It is characterised by spots on the face, back and chest which can either be smaller blackheads, whiteheads, papules or pustules, or more severe nodules or cysts. These spots and inflammation arise when bacteria grows in a blocked hair follicle containing trapped sebum (oil). There are a variety of possible causes of acne, including; hormones, diet, vitamin deficiency, stress and genetics. Acne can have a negative impact on confidence and cause distress or anxiety in individuals suffering from this condition. Differin cream treats the symptoms of acne on the surface of the skin by clearing blocked pores and decreasing the swelling and inflammation.
Differin cream and gel both contain 0.1% of the same active ingredient, although the cream is absorbed more quickly and easily and is therefore more suitable for sensitive skin.
Differin can prevent new outbreaks as it clears blogged pores which lead to spots.
Differin can be used on the face, chest or back where acne is present.
Other acne products (containing benzoyl peroxide, erythromycin or clindamycin) can be used with Differin, although they must be used in the morning as Differin is applied at night.
