Neoclarityn is an antihistamine used to treat hay fever and allergies to dust mites or pet hair. It relieves the symptoms associated with these allergic conditions and prevents them from occurring.
Neoclarityn prevents an allergic response from taking place by blocking the receptor site that histamine needs to attach to. Histamine is a chemical released by the body when you come into contact with an allergen, such as pollen, and triggers symptoms such as inflammation, runny nose, itchy eyes and sneezing.
Neoclarityn will usually start to work within one or two hours of taking it.
You can prevent hay fever by reducing your exposure to pollen. You can do this by trying the following steps:

Neoclarityn is a non-drowsy antihistamine, so it should not make you feel tired or sleepy. Older types of antihistamines usually cause drowsiness, while newer varieties, such as Neoclarityn, are less likely to.
The active ingredient in Neoclarityn is desloratadine.
The other ingredients in Neoclarityn are calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, maize starch, talc. Tablet coating contains film coat (containing lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, macrogol 400, indigotin (E132)), clear coat (containing hypromellose, macrogol 400), carnauba wax, white wax.
As with all medications, Neoclarityn can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. Cases of severe allergic reactions, presenting as difficulty in breathing, wheezing, itching, hives and swelling, have been reported very rarely. This is a medical emergency and you should seek immediate medical attention right away.
Each Neoclarityn pill contains a 5 mg dose of desloratadine. Neoclarityn is a single tablet taken once daily with water. The tablet should be swallowed whole and can be taken with or without food. Follow the instructions given by your doctor on how to take it. To treat or prevent hay fever, you may need to take Neoclarityn daily for the duration of pollen season.
If you take too much Neoclarityn by accident, it is unlikely to cause any harm. However, you should report this to a doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible.
If you forget to take Neoclarityn, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not take an extra dose in place of a missed one. This also means you should not take two tablets on the same day.

Drinking alcohol, while taking Neoclarityn, should be kept to a minimum and avoided if possible.
Neoclarityn is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Ask your doctor, if you are pregnant or planning a baby, for advice if you are thinking about taking Neoclarityn.

Neoclarityn does not usually cause drowsiness; however, it's recommended that you do not drive until you know how Neoclarityn affects you. Some people may experience drowsiness or other side effects, which can affect their reactions.
There are many treatment options available to relieve the symptoms of hay fever. Over the counter antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops are readily available in pharmacies. If these do not help, a doctor can prescribe the following treatments:
Loratadine is the active ingredient in Clarityn. Whereas Neoclarityn contains desloratadine which is an active form of loratadine. Both medicines are the same type of antihistamine, but Neoclarityn works faster and is less likely to produce side effects.
