About

What is Viagra Connect?

Viagra Connect is the same as Viagra and generic Viagra (sildenafil) and is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). Viagra Connect is the only sildenafil formulation available without a prescription. It enables men to obtain and sustain an erection when sexually aroused or stimulated. It is manufactured by Pfizer, the active ingredient is sildenafil citrate and it is available in 50mg tablets and in pack sizes of 4 to 64 film-coated tablets.

Who makes Viagra Connect?

Viagra Connect is produced by Pfizer. Genuine pills are blue rounded-diamond-shaped and can be identified by the “PFIZER” on one side and “V50” on the other.

What is Viagra Connect used for?

Viagra Connect is used to treat erectile dysfunction by increasing blood flow to the penis. It allows men to achieve and maintain a sufficient penile erection for sexual performance.

How quickly does Viagra Connect work?

Viagra Connect works within 30–60 minutes and typically lasts for around four hours.

How effective is Viagra Connect?

Viagra Connect works for 74% of men who have tried it. If Viagra Connect does not work for you, you may find that other medications such as Levitra, Cialis or Spedra do work for you. Alternatively, you could try a stronger dose of Viagra, but these stronger dosages are not available over the counter.

Why don't I need a prescription for Viagra Connect?

Viagra Connect is the first medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, which will be available without a prescription. The proposal for a prescription-free erectile dysfunction medication was officially approved by the MHRA in 2017 and became available in Spring 2018.

Viagra Connect was implemented to improve patient access to erectile dysfunction medication. Due to illegitimate online “pharmacies”, often selling illicit counterfeit Viagra tablets, it is hoped that Viagra Connect will improve the safety of self-treating ED, by making genuine ED treatment more accessible.

Viagra Connect is available from registered UK pharmacies, and therefore also helps to alleviate the pressure on GP surgeries. You can also use convenient services like Dr Felix to request Viagra Connect and have your medicine delivered to your home or work in discreet and plain packaging.

Is Viagra Connect the same as Viagra?

Yes, Viagra Connect is simply the over-the-counter, non-prescription version of Viagra. Both have the same active ingredient – sildenafil citrate. Viagra Connect is only available in 50mg doses, whereas Viagra is available in 25, 50 and 100mg doses and therefore, can be adjusted by a doctor to meet your individual needs.

Can I buy Viagra Connect online?

Viagra Connect can be bought safely online from Dr Felix. It is available to adult men with erectile dysfunction following an online consultation to be reviewed by one of our GMC registered doctors. To buy Viagra connect, simply fill in our online questionnaire, our doctors will review your responses to determine if Viagra Connect 50mg is appropriate for you. If suitable, our registered pharmacy will then post the medicine to an address of your choice in discreet packaging.

How can I tell if the Viagra Connect I have is real?

Viagra Connect is a blue, rounded-diamond-shaped tablet. One side is marked “PFIZER” and the other side is marked “V50”. The tablets measure 11.2mm x 8.1mm. Dr Felix only sources genuine medicine from British pharmaceutical suppliers regulated by the MHRA, so you can be sure you are getting the exact same medicine as you would if you walked into any NHS pharmacy in the UK.

Treatment Options

Alternatives to medication to improve ED

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is often multifactorial and there’s often some lifestyle factors that can be addressed to improve your erections. Stopping smoking and optimising your weight can sometimes have a dramatic effect on ED. Illicit drug use, particularly cannabis, can also contribute to erectile and other sexual problems.

Anxiety, stress and relationship difficulties are often contributory. Spending time relaxing and communicating with your partner(s) can help alleviate some of these anxieties. If you feel stressed or depressed, counselling may help.

Viagra vs. Viagra Connect

Viagra and Viagra Connect contains the same active ingredient, sildenafil. Viagra Connect can be purchased over the counter without a prescription however Viagra requires a prescription. Viagra Connect is only available at a dosage of 50mg so if you feel you need a lower or higher dose, speak to your doctor. Although it is prescription-free, you should ideally consult a doctor or pharmacist before purchasing Viagra Connect.

Viagra Connect vs. sildenafil

Viagra Connect and sildenafil both contain the active ingredient (sildenafil) and they work in exactly the same way. Viagra Connect is the brand name for sildenafil that’s available over the counter. Sildenafil is a generic drug.

Viagra Connect vs. other ED medications

Viagra is the most well-known and popular treatment for erectile dysfunction, and Viagra Connect is a prescription-free version. Alternatives to Viagra Connect include Cialis (tadalafil) and Levitra (vardenafil) which are also PDE-5 inhibitors that work by increasing blood flow to the penis in the event of sexual stimulation.

What if Viagra Connect doesn’t work for me?

It’s advised to try Viagra Connect on multiple different occasions over a few weeks to assess if it works for you, as often it doesn’t work the very first time you use it. If Viagra Connect does not work for you, speak to a doctor about alternative treatments for erectile dysfunction.

Q&A

Do I need to tell my doctor I’m taking Viagra Connect?

It’s advisable to discuss any erectile problems with your doctor. Erectile problems can be caused by an underlying health condition that may be easily treated. ED can also be the first sign of a serious underlying health condition such as diabetes or vascular disease. You should tell your doctor and schedule a health check-up as soon as possible when starting to use Viagra Connect.

Can I drink alcohol with Viagra Connect?

It’s recommended to avoid alcohol with Viagra Connect as alcohol can limit your ability to achieve or sustain an erection, and in this case, it’s difficult to tell if the Viagra Connect is working or not.
